How to Choose the Best Gifts for 5 Year Old Who Has Everything
Use these pointers to narrow down the best gifts for 5 year old who has everything for the family you are shopping for.
Gifts for Kids Who Have Everything
When a child already owns lots of toys, choose experiences, skills and projects: a kit that teaches something new, an outdoor challenge, or an activity you can do together. These gifts add something different instead of more of the same.
Give Time Together
Experiences and activities you do together, like baking, fishing, gardening or a weekly game, often mean more to grandkids than another toy. Add a note promising the first outing.
What 5 Year Olds Love
Five year olds are bursting with imagination and energy. They love pretend play, first LEGO sets, simple board games, crafts, things that light up or launch, and anything that lets them run, jump and climb. Most are ready for toys labeled 4+ or 5+.
Respect the Age Label
Age grades on toys are about safety as much as skill. The CPSC requires warnings on toys with small parts that are choking hazards for children under 3, and advises keeping deflated balloons away from kids under 8. If a younger sibling shares the playroom, pick toys that are safe for the youngest child.
