How We Chose the Best Birthday Party Favors for 5 Year Olds
To choose the best birthday party favors for 5 year olds, we chose bulk favors that suit five year olds, with age labels and low cost per child.
We also follow the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s advice to respect age labels, add helmets for riding toys and keep small parts away from children under 3. See the CPSC toy safety tips.
Product details in this guide come from manufacturer specifications, age grading and verified owner feedback. Read more on our How We Test page.
How to Choose the Best Birthday Party Favors for 5 Year Olds
Use these pointers to narrow down the best birthday party favors for 5 year olds for the family you are shopping for.
How to Plan Party Favors
Count guests plus a few extras for siblings. One to three small items per bag is plenty. Avoid tiny parts if toddlers will be there, and check for nut-free or candy-free rules at school parties.
Keeping Favors Cheap
Bulk packs bring the cost per child down fast. Mix one “hero” item, like a pop keychain or mini puzzle, with a sticker or bubble wand. Prices were checked on Amazon at the time of writing and change often.
Picking a Birthday Gift That Fits
Start with the child’s age and one current interest. A gift they can open and play with at the party, plus a simple card, beats an expensive toy that needs a grown-up to set up.
Respect the Age Label
Age grades on toys are about safety as much as skill. The CPSC requires warnings on toys with small parts that are choking hazards for children under 3, and advises keeping deflated balloons away from kids under 8. If a younger sibling shares the playroom, pick toys that are safe for the youngest child.
Party Favor Tips for 5 Year Olds
A few simple ideas make the best birthday party favors for 5 year olds feel even more personal:
- Pick one hero item per bag.
- Add a sticker or crayon pack.
- Avoid tiny parts if toddlers attend.
- Buy a few extras.
- Use paper bags.
