How to Choose the Best Toys 5 Year Old Boys
Use these pointers to narrow down the best toys 5 year old boys for the family you are shopping for.
What 5 Year Olds Love
Five year olds are bursting with imagination and energy. They love pretend play, first LEGO sets, simple board games, crafts, things that light up or launch, and anything that lets them run, jump and climb. Most are ready for toys labeled 4+ or 5+.
Check the LEGO Age Rating
LEGO age ratings reflect build complexity, not just safety. A 7 year old can usually handle sets labeled 6+ to 8+ on their own; bigger sets may need a parent’s help with a few steps.

Respect the Age Label
Age grades on toys are about safety as much as skill. The CPSC requires warnings on toys with small parts that are choking hazards for children under 3, and advises keeping deflated balloons away from kids under 8. If a younger sibling shares the playroom, pick toys that are safe for the youngest child.
