How We Chose the Best Gifts 5 Year Old Boy
To choose the best gifts 5 year old boy, we chose gifts with daily, lasting use rather than one-time novelty.
We also follow the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s advice to respect age labels, add helmets for riding toys and keep small parts away from children under 3. See the CPSC toy safety tips.

How to Choose the Best Gifts 5 Year Old Boy
Use these pointers to narrow down the best gifts 5 year old boy for the family you are shopping for.
Choose Toys That Grow With Them
Convertible toys (walkers that become wagons, trikes that become balance bikes, LEGO sets that build three models) and open-ended toys stay interesting longer, which makes them better value.
What 5 Year Olds Love
Five year olds are bursting with imagination and energy. They love pretend play, first LEGO sets, simple board games, crafts, things that light up or launch, and anything that lets them run, jump and climb. Most are ready for toys labeled 4+ or 5+.

Respect the Age Label
Age grades on toys are about safety as much as skill. The CPSC requires warnings on toys with small parts that are choking hazards for children under 3, and advises keeping deflated balloons away from kids under 8. If a younger sibling shares the playroom, pick toys that are safe for the youngest child.
